What this board is

The board uses the published August order: a 7 ft 2 in post-up center in S, a 6 ft 9 in walking bucket and a 6 ft 2 in floor general in A, a 6 ft 6 in offensive general in B, and a 6 ft 10 in built power forward in C. Demigod, Sharpshooter, and the slim do-it-all have attribute sheets and were not given letters by this ranking.

S tier

stress-test-37 ft 2 in 2-Way Post-Up ContributorThe S row in the August 2026 ranking. A 7 ft 2 in, roughly 255 lb built center with Diesel. Post, interior defense, block, and rebound are about 90, strength about 93, and mid-range and three are about 81 so a defense cannot fully sag.

Player decision Use it when a 3v3 or 5v5 lineup needs screens, boards, and rim protection. It is a poor answer if you wanted a primary ball handler.

A tier

stress-test-36 ft 9 in Crafty Walking BucketThe A-tier wing in that August ranking: an athletic two-way small forward, often paired with Highlight Reel. A separate 6 ft 8 in, 225 lb built wing is the position template some guides point at. It is not the 230 lb Demigod sheet.

Player decision Pick this role if you want to attack closeouts and still guard a wing. Do not copy 2K ratings to fill the missing cells.

stress-test-36 ft 2 in Thieving Floor-GeneralThe A-tier guard in that ranking. Position notes describe a 6 ft 2 in narrow build around 165 lb. Takeover notes say Unleash or Smooth Operator, or Team Riser if you pass first.

Player decision Use it when your lineup needs a quarterback. It is the wrong first build if you only want to post up.

B tier

stress-test-36 ft 6 in Crafty Offensive GeneralThe B-tier shooting guard in the August list, described as a perimeter scorer. One position note attaches Knockdown Shooter to a 6 ft 7 in, 180 lb shooter. The Sharpshooter wiki entry is a third, fully numbered 6 ft 6 in sheet and is not this letter by itself.

Player decision Choose it when the lineup already has a defender and a big, and your job is to shoot. Compare the 6 ft 6 in and 6 ft 7 in notes in the creator before you lock height.

C tier

stress-test-36 ft 10 in Built Power ForwardThe C-tier frontcourt build in the August ranking: a 6 ft 10 in built power forward, described as a specialist rather than the everyday center.

Player decision Consider it only if you want a forward who finishes and helps inside, and you have already read the Diesel center sheet so you know what you are giving up.

FAQ

[ALPHA] Practical Basketball ranking questions

Is the 7 ft 2 in center still the best build in alpha?

That letter comes from an August Stress Test 3 ranking. The 30 Oct release added build progression. Recheck the creator before you treat the letter as current.
